Sadhana Time

In the kundalini yoga teachings, there is a time in the morning called the amrit vela which is 2 1/2 hours before sunrise. Aspirant yogis are to rise at this time and begin their sadhana which consists of meditation and yoga practice.

When I was a kid, our ashram would gather and practice at my neighbors house until the sun rose. My father was one oLive At Fivef the pillars of the yoga practice, and my mom would bring me over usually half way through the 62 minute meditation and I would sleep through the live music. Some of my fondest memories were of listening to GuruGanesha chant his heart out. He created two "Sadhana" CD's that contain rhythms I have been listening to since I was a kid.

While I don't do a 2 1/2 hour practice daily, I keep up at least something of a Sadhana even if its quick.

I use this time to remember why I do what I do and set my aspirations for the day. If I have the time, I meditate until I feel really good.Grateful Ganesh

Hi Hargobond! Even if my musician carrer sometime doesn’t allow me to practice during Amrit Vela, i’ve been doing my KY Sadhana every day for the past twelve years, and that is kind of a proudness sin for me. And every day i thank the Guru for giving me the opportunity of living those blessed moments. So i understand you pretty well. Your blog is real nice. So keep up!

Much greetings

Sorry for the name’s mistake, Hargobind! I’m wondering at wich time Amrit Vela in America would be here in France. I’ll try to find out. Anyway tomorrow morning during the Sadhana i’ll have a light thought for you.

All the best
